I craned my neck and watched Alamo walk back into the room, licking my lips at the sight of his naked body. God, he was gorgeous.
He grinned, climbing back onto the bed and settling a warm washcloth between my legs. “Love the way you look at me, Firefly.”
“How do I look at you?”
“Like I’m the only man in the room.”
I cocked my head. “You are the only man in the room.”
He chuckled, gripping my chin. “Tonight I am, true. But you look at me like that regardless of where we are.”
“Do I?”
He kissed me. “Yeah, baby, you do.”
I wrinkled my nose. “I need to stop doing that.”
He shook his head. “You absolutely do not need to stop doing that.”
He gently cleaned me up and threw the washcloth into the bathroom, then he kissed me and pulled me up against his chest.
“You are perfect,” I whispered.
“You think?”
“Your body, just to be clear. I’m sure you’ve got something wrong with your personality somewhere. I’ll be sure to let you know when I figure it out.”
Alamo laughed. “No, you can go ahead and keep that to yourself. I’m good with you thinkin’ I’m perfect all over.”
“I’m good with that for the moment.” I smiled. “Why don’t you have any tattoos?”
“I do have one,” he countered, and turned so I could see the Dogs of Fire logo on his right shoulder blade.
Tracing my fingers over it, I smiled. “Why only one?”
He met my eyes again. “You like tattoos, Firefly?”
I shook my head. “I don’t have a dog in that fight, no pun intended. It’s different that you’re almost totally bare, so to speak, while the rest of the club are super tatted.”
He shrugged. “I don’t do anything permanent unless I am totally committed. I’ve never found another reason to mark up my body, so I haven’t.”
“I like it.”
“Yeah?”
I nodded. “Your body’s beautiful, Mo. No matter what you decide to do.”
“Good to know.”
“Um.” I bit my lip. “How’s this all going to work?”
“What?”
I waved my hand between us. “This.”
“Yeah, baby, I got that part. What are you worried about, specifically?”
“Who says I’m worried?”
He gave me a slight squeeze. “Because your body just got stiff and you scooted away a little.”
I sighed. “Sorry.”
“What’s on your mind, Firefly?”
“Never mind. It’s not important.”
“Baby, if you’re feelin’ somethin’, it’s important.” He lifted my chin, so he could meet my eyes. “You got buyer’s remorse?”
I rolled my eyes. “Let me be clear. I regret nothing that happened here.”
“That’s good to know. Neither do I.”
I shifted so I could lean on his chest and watch his expressions. “You’re different.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah. I have never kissed a guy after two weeks of... whatever this is we’re doing... let alone slept with him. I’m feeling a little off-kilter.” I bit my lip. “And Quin’s reaction to us being an item kind of shook me a little.”
He sighed, dragging his hands through his hair. “Quin isn’t what I’d call impartial. And she said she adored you.”
“This is where I need to give you a lesson on society and the things that are said, even though they’re not meant.”
“Fuck me, seriously?”
“Don’t freak out,” I said. “She was perfectly pleasant, but when she said that she adored me, that’s not actually what she meant.”
“What the fuck did she mean, then?”
“That she thought the two of us together was insane and it would never work.”
“Are you shittin’ me?”
“Nope. Swear to Buddha, that’s what she meant.”
“You got all of that from ‘Oh my God, Valen, Jasmine’s the girl you’re dating? I adore her,’” he mimicked in a high-pitched southern voice while waving his hands in the air.
If I wasn’t taking the conversation so seriously, I would have laughed. “Partly. She was a little over the top. Have you ever heard your sister sound that redneck?”
He studied me.
“Have you?” I pressed.
“Not really, no.”
“See? She was also a little monosyllabic while I was doing her hair. Totally unlike her. You sister’s a talker, honey. Typically, I don’t get a word in edgewise.”
“Well, there is that,” he agreed.
“You’ve only got one family member, Mo. And I think she’s worried you’re kind of a player. She kept saying that if you fucked this up, she’d lose me as her hair person.”
“Goddammit,” he muttered.
“Are you a player, Alamo? Should I be worried?”
“No way in hell.” He sighed. “Look, Quin’ll come around. And, so we’re clear... this is a committed thing. Relationship, whatever, but I’m not fuckin’ anyone else. I’m not kissin’ anyone else, either,” he said. “And I’m honored that you let me in your panties after two weeks, ’cause I’m gonna want in often.”
“I like that, Mo. I’m gonna want in yours often, too.”
He laughed. “Anytime you want in, baby. You’re in.”
“Sounds good.”
“I’ll talk to Quin, okay?”
Nodding, I dropped my head to his chest and held him tight. He kissed the top of my head and pulled me closer. I snuggled against his chest and slid my arm over his stomach. “Change of subject,” I said.
“Okay.”
“I’m gonna keep this from my parents for a little bit. Do you have a problem with that?”
This time, he stiffened, so I met his eyes again.
“You ashamed of this?” he asked.
“No! Ohmigod, no. I just don’t want them grilling you yet. If you want to meet them, I’ll take you to meet them tomorrow. It’s not that,” I insisted. “I’m not ready to share you.”
“Share me how?”
“I have never brought a man home, and that’s kind of been on purpose, mostly because I watched what happened to my in-laws. More so, my poor brother-in-law.” I shook my head. “Ohmigod, Simon had to go to every baseball game of 2006 because my dad decided to buy Braves season tickets... for just the two of them. Simon made the mistake of mentioning that he used to play, and Dad ran with it. Jules lost her mind because they had just met, and she didn’t know if it was even something permanent. She wasn’t ready to commit to an entire baseball season with Simon yet, so it was a “thing” for years. Dad said he knew Simon was the one, and since they’ve been married for almost ten years now, he says he wants to vet all of my “gentleman callers.” I’m... well, no, I’m not ready to subject you to that yet. Or share you with my father.”
“Caddies.”
“What?”
“Cadillacs. Really old, super expensive. You can tell your dad that’s what I’m into. If he’s lookin’ for a new son.”
“Good to know you have a price.”
“Let’s just say the sound of my heartbeat is a 250-V8.”
I raised an eyebrow. “Are you trying to say that the way to a man’s heart is through his exhaust pipe?”
“Whoa, baby. Not quite the relationship I was lookin’ for with your old man.”
I slapped his chest as I tried to control my laughter. “I do not want that image in my head,” I said.
“Neither do I,” he said, pushing me gently onto my back and kissing me. “Can’t seem to stop doin’ that.”
“What?”
“Kissin’ you,” he said, and stroked my check. “You’re fuckin’ gorgeous, Jasmine.”
I smiled. “Thanks, Mo. I’m glad you think so.”
“But?”
“No but,” I said. “Well, at least I’m trying not to let there be a but.

He grinned. “I’ll get you there.”
“You will?”
“Yeah, baby, I will.”
“I’d really appreciate that, honey.” I ran my fingers through his beard. “How’s Quin?”
“She’s good. Michael’s under control for the moment.”
“Do I want to know what that means?”
“Probably not,” he said. “I’ll fill you in once everything’s settled, but for now, I need you to have plausible deniability.”
His stomach rumbled... loudly... and I smiled. “You hungry?”
“What gave it away?” he asked.
“Come on, let me feed my man.”
“Like that, Firefly.” He grinned. “But you gotta do it naked.”
I climbed off the bed and shook my head. “No.”
“Yep.”
“No.” I grabbed a clean pair of underwear and shimmied them on. “Gross, Mo.”
“Not gross,” he said, climbing off the bed. “Sexy.”
I reached for a T-shirt, but he intercepted my arm and pushed it behind my back. “Like this, then. Just panties.”
“Mo.”
“Do it for me, baby.”
I rolled my eyes. “My blinds are currently open, Alamo. I’m not walking around with the ta-tas on display for my neighbors.”
“Gonna go close ’em right now, then.”
“Knock yourself out. But do it naked,” I ordered.
He grinned and strolled out of my bedroom. I waited until he called out the all-clear, then I headed out to make him something to eat... semi-naked.
Jasmine
The next morning, I woke to an empty bed and frowned. My sheets still smelled like Alamo, but he wasn’t with me, and I didn’t hear him in the bathroom, so I sat up and threw my covers off.
That’s when I smelled it. Coffee. And bacon. Ohmigod, bacon. My man was cooking? This I had to check out.
After taking a minute to wash the sleep out of my eyes, I pulled on undies and an oversized T-shirt and headed out to the kitchen where Alamo stood at my stove, his back to me, his boxer-brief covered ass on perfect display. I licked my lips and leaned against the counter to watch him.
“You gonna stare at my ass all mornin’, or are you gonna pour us each a cup of coffee?” he asked without turning around.
“Stare at your ass. Duh,” I said, even as I was closing the distance between us and wrapping my arms around him from behind. “Morning.”
He turned to face me, guiding me away from the stove. “Careful, Firefly, there’s hot fat.”
“Says the man frying bacon without a shirt.”
He leaned down and kissed me. “I’m a professional.”
“You fry bacon naked on a regular basis, huh?”
Alamo laughed. “I kinda walked right into that one.”
“Kinda,” I retorted.
My doorbell pealed, and I dropped my head to his chest.
“You expectin’ someone?”
“No,” I whispered, lifting my head for another kiss. “Ignore it.”
He smiled against my lips, lifting me onto the counter and pulling me close, my pussy to his chest, then kissed me again. I slid my fingers into his hair, just as I heard a feminine gasp.
“Who the hell are you?” Juliette snapped, and I let out a frightened squeak.
“Jules! What are you doing here?” I demanded, pushing Alamo away so I could jump off the counter.
“Who’s this, Jazz?”
“None of your business. What are you doing here?”
“You gave me a key.”
“For emergencies, sissy. Not to barge in whenever you want to.”
“I have left you six messages over the last forty-two hours, Jasmine, all have gone unanswered, so I thought I’d swing by and make sure you weren’t dead on the floor. I was concerned Scruffy might be eating your dead corpse.”
Alamo chuckled behind me, but I ignored him. Scruffy looked up from his place on the sofa and let out a very annoyed, “Meow.”
“I have been busy,” I ground out. “I’m sorry I didn’t call you back, but as you can see, I’m alive and well.”
“And standing in the kitchen, making out with a naked man,” she mused, glancing over my shoulder, her gaze lingering a little too long on Alamo.
I gripped her chin and forced her face back to me. “Jules. I’m good.”
“You gonna introduce me to your... friend?” she asked, crossing her arms.
“Nope.”
She raised an eyebrow. “Want me to call Dad?”
“Want me to call Si and tell him you’re ogling a half-naked man that isn’t him?”
She smiled. Like a shark. An evil shark. “If Si were here, he’d probably ogle him too.”
This was one-hundred percent a bald-faced lie, because Simon was the utmost gentleman and would have turned his back to afford us privacy, but she seemed pretty proud of herself for her retort, so I stared her down. “Go home, Juliette. You’ll be introduced to Alamo at a future day and time of my choosing.”
She grinned and glanced over my shoulder again. “Hi, Alamo. I’m Jules. Super nice to meet you. Welcome to the family.”
“Hey, babe,” he said, and I glared at my sister.
“Don’t you have children you’re neglecting?” I snapped.
“Play date. Simon and Jared are golfing, and I thought you might want to meet up with Kelly and me for lunch. Mom and Dad are watching all the kids later so the four of us could go for dinner tonight,” she said. “I think we should make the date for six.”
“No,” I said at the same time Alamo said, “Sure.”
“Great,” she said. “I’ll text you the details.”
“Jules—”
She clapped her hands. “I’m so excited.”
“Jules—”
“I’ll see you guys later.”
She turned on her heel and walked out, and I dropped my head back with a groan.
Alamo laughed, kissing my shoulder then going back to cooking. “It’ll be fun.”
“It’ll be fun, he says.” I faced him. “You have no idea what you’ve done, Alamo.”
He grinned. “Gotta fair idea, Firefly.”
I held my finger up. “Hold that thought.” I rushed to my front door and locked the deadbolt, adding the chain, just in case Jules decided to come back.
Returning to the kitchen, I leaned against the counter, but Alamo nodded toward the coffee maker. “You forgettin’ somethin’?”
“Oh, right,” I said, and grabbed mugs. “I blame you.”
He chuckled. “Blame me while you pour coffee.”
I smiled and brought out the cream and sugar. “Don’t you have stuff to do today?”
“Nope.”
“Seriously?”
He cracked eggs into a pan and said, “Yep.”
“Wait.” I stopped mid-pour. “So, I have you all night and all day?”
“Yep.”
“What if I had plans today?”
“You got plans today?”
“No, but what if I did?”
He shrugged. “I woulda gone back to my place.”
“You wouldn’t have bargained?”
“Bargained?”
“Tried to find a way to get me to cancel my plans so you could spend the day with me,” I clarified.
He faced me and cocked his head, but didn’t say anything. I stared him down and he gave me the sexiest little smirk I’d ever seen as he crowded me against my counter, setting one hand on each side of me, boxing me in, he said, “I would have done more than bargained.”
“You would?”
“Hell, yeah.”
I licked my lips. “Like what?”
He slid his face to my neck and kissed my pulse. “I woulda started here, then moved here...” He kissed my jaw, then tugged the hem of my T-shirt up and kissed my belly. “Then here.” Kneeling in front of me, he pressed his face between my thighs and kissed my clit through my panties. “Then here.”<
br />
Hooking his fingers under the waistband of my underwear, he slid them down my thighs, then to my feet, tapping my right leg, which I lifted. “Spread, baby.”
I spread, placing my foot back on the ground and was rewarded with Alamo’s tongue on my clit. He gripped my ass and squeezed as he applied more and more pressure, sliding a finger inside of me, then two, and pumping me into a sexual frenzy.
I cried out when I lost his mouth, but he grabbed a condom (from where, I have no idea, but I didn’t care), and then bent me over my kitchen island and slid into me from behind.
“Ohmigod,” I breathed out.
Alamo lifted my shirt over my head and pushed gently on my back. “Tits to the granite, Jasmine.”
My breath hissed out at the cold against my nipples, the feeling so amazing, I almost came right then and there, but then Alamo moved, and I lost my mind.
“Brace, baby,” he warned, and I gripped the edge of the island while he pounded into me so hard, an orgasm washed over me faster than expected and I screamed his name as I came. He thrust one more time, then I felt his cock pulse inside of me as he let out a grunt and settled his palm on my lower back. “Fuckin’ perfect.”
I smiled. “Yes.”
“You good?”
“I’m so good, honey.”
He slid gently out of me and headed to the bathroom. I pushed away from the counter and followed him, walking to the sink.
“Shit,” I said, and turned to walk back to the kitchen.
“What?”
“Everything’s all messy.”
“So?”
“So... I need to pick up—”
“Nothin’,” Alamo countered, wrapping an arm around my waist. “You don’t need to pick up anything.”
“I can’t just leave my clothes on the kitchen floor.”
“Why not?”
“Um... actually, I have no idea.”
“Exactly.” He grinned at me in the mirror. “Your place is spotless. It’s weird.”
Right as he said that, a blur of fur rushed past the door and cat-mama radar went off in my head, so I followed Scruffy into my bedroom. “Ohmigod!”
“What?” Alamo called.
I couldn’t answer him because I was trying to wrestle my panties from my cat’s mouth... and losing. “Goddammit, Scruffy, give them back!”
